Position Summary

Big Switch Networks is growing rapidly and is seeking an experienced financial professional as Director, FP&A to lead our company’s financial planning and analysis team to help us support the next stages of our growth.  We are seeking an energetic individual with strong strategic finance skills, who is a self-starter, a great communicator and passionate about driving change in a dynamic fast-paced environment.  This individual a demonstrated ability to make significant contributions in the analysis of financial and strategic issues. 

This role will be responsible for driving key strategic finance deliverables, which includes managing and overseeing all day-to-day corporate financial planning processes, including budget planning, forecasting, monthly reporting, key business analysis, as well as assisting on special projects.  This individual will be responsible for continually improving and refining a drivers-based corporate financial model, extracting business insights and identifying trends from our financial results, while in parallel enhancing our analytics.  This role will produce financial and operational business insights at the company to enhance corporate decision-making, drive process improvements, and provide visibility into key issues. This is an individual contributor role reporting directly to the CFO.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and improve detailed financial models that bridge our 3-year financial objectives with operational levers. Track and analyze functional costs and their impact on the company’s overall performance
  • Support the quarterly / annual budgeting and planning process, as well as long range strategic planning
  • Prepare monthly / quarterly budget vs. actual variance analysis
  • Partner with executive team and functional budget owners to provide operational analysis and reporting, establish alignment on long-term strategy, and drive improvements to operating efficiency and forecasting
  • Drive and provide support for ad-hoc strategic financial analyses and projects to support senior management and business decisions
  • Own operational analytics and maintain peer group analysis
  • Develop detailed understanding of company’s business model and highlight opportunities to improve growth and profitability through identification of investment opportunities, cost savings, pricing considerations, etc.
  • Understand product set, competitive landscape and industry dynamics to help guide corporate strategy and prioritize incremental investments
  • Identify and quantify operational risks and opportunities
  • Track external financial benchmarks to drive optimal financial strategy and align investor expectations
  • Ensure integrity and timely execution of all internal, executive, board, and investor reporting
  • Manage key deliverables and assist senior management in preparing external communications

Qualifications 

  • Demonstrated track record in building, leading and developing superior finance teams, including serving as a mentor to ensure professional development and performance
  • Familiarity with implementing “best practices” in a high-growth company environment
  • Ability and willingness to be hands-on, dive into the detail, work quickly and manage multiple tasks in a deadline-driven environment while maintaining a high level of precision
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and entrepreneurial culture that requires an extraordinary work ethic

Education / Experience 

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics or Accounting preferred
  • 5+ years of FP&A or corporate finance experience, preferably within PaaS, SaaS or technology company environments
  • Experience in investment banking and/or equity research is considered beneficial
  • Excellent financial modeling and analytical skills
  • Advanced PowerPoint and Excel skills
  • Previous experience with Financial reporting, business intelligence and integrated planning systems (Anaplan, Adaptive Insights, etc) is a plus.
