Big Switch Networks is looking for a smart and energetic Quality Assurance Engineering specializing in test automation and scripting with strong background in networking.  This individual will work closely with the development and QA teams to develop and run automated tests.  This includes functional tests, solution tests, scaling and performance tests, as well as GUI.  This individual will also be asked to automate test cases, report test progress and analyze test failures.

Job Overview:

As a member of the technical staff at Big Switch Networks, you have the opportunity to work with a highly qualified team and contribute to the design and testing of innovative Big Switch solutions for the marketplace.

Requirements:

  • BS in CS or equivalent
  • At least 0-2 years industry experience in the networking / network packet broker field
  • Very strong programming skills in Python or equivalent scripting language
  • Strong knowledge of L2/L3 networking, network security or monitoring technologies
  • Ability to understand, develop and execute manual/automated test cases.
  • Strong familiarity with networking hardware (switches, servers, cables, optics and NICs)
  • Experience with white box switch technologies (ONIE, ONL) is a plus
  • Ability to operate and maintain network configuration of multiple vendor CLI is a plus
  • Experience using a variety of test tools such as Wireshark, Ixia and Spirent is desired.
  • Solid understanding of Linux boot sequence and driver architecture
  • Virtualization expertise using VMWARE, Linux KVM or container environments
  • Self-motivated individual with the ability to work in a high-achieving team or independently.

Optional:

  • Master’s Degree or higher in CS or equivalent
  • Advance networking knowledge such as Multicast, IPv6 and VxLAN
  • Advance familiarity with firmware technologies such as BIOS, CPLD and IPMI

Additional Requirements

  • Ability to build, upgrade and maintain a physical test topology in a remote lab environment
  • Ability to debug complex problems and isolate bugs from desired behavior
  • Ability to do multitasking
